1. Introduction

ShipShax (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the ShipShax mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the App. By using ShipShax, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Your name and email address, provided directly or via Google Sign-In (OAuth).
  • Photos: Images you capture or select within the App are uploaded to secure cloud storage. We do not access or use your photos for any purpose other than displaying them back to you.
  • Journal data: The names, date ranges, and types of journals you create (Trip, Person, Monthly, Yearly), and the dates on which you add photos.
  • Usage data: Streak counts, journal activity, and in-app interactions used to provide streak tracking and personalised features.
  • Purchase information: If you subscribe to ShipShax Premium, purchase details are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and managed via RevenueCat. We do not store your payment details.
  • Print orders: If you order photo prints, the delivery address and order details you provide are used solely to fulfil that order.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
  • To store and sync your journals and photos across your devices.
  • To calculate and display your daily photo streak.
  • To manage your ShipShax Premium subscription and print credits.
  • To fulfil photo print orders.
  • To send important service notifications (e.g. account or subscription updates).
  • To improve and maintain the App.

4. Third-Party Services

ShipShax relies on the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase (Google):User authentication, cloud database (Firestore), and photo storage. Your data is stored on Google's infrastructure.
  • Google Sign-In: Optional social authentication.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat receives purchase receipts but not your photos or journal data.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for subscriptions and in-app purchases.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and photos for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your photos and journal data are permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

6. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored using Firebase's security infrastructure. Access to your photos and journals is restricted to your authenticated account only. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

ShipShax is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
